I love a good farmers market and when the weekend hits I dream of sleeping in, having a late breakfast and then wandering the farmers market with punk in tow, eating fresh fruit and snacking on cotton candy. When the hunger hits we find a shaded place on the grass and dine on fresh crusty bread, homemade cheese, grapes and lemonade....
Whilst the boys fly a kite barefoot under the cloudless sky and we leave the market with our arms filled to the brim with colorful fresh cut flowers, organic veggies to grill for dinner and handmade soaps & potions....
And then reality sets in of course, laundry piles up, dogs are waiting to be walked and pool men are being whiny about the whole idea and by golly I just started in on a typical Saturday at our cottage...
However, lately while perusing the thrift stores I have been attracted to vintage tablecloths and the idea of bringing them along with me on a Summer weekend picnic in~loo of a blanket or perhaps to cover my outdoor table for dining al fresco in the mid summer's afternoon glow...
So, with that in mind I lovingly picked up a few extra vintage tablecloths just for you so you can join me while dining al fresco!
...and I just happen to have some cute handmade Market bags to help you carry all your farmers market fresh goodies also coming to the shoppe this weekend.
And if I can get my booty into gear some embellished bunting with the left over burlap my momma gives me...but don't hold your breath too long you will suffocate I can guaranty it!
Now if only I can get the two boys on board with my ideas this summer....
I am breaking them in slowly this weekend with a trip to "Dog Beach" in order to give our dog a bath, I mean to let the dog splash in the ocean and have some leash free canine fun!
We will see how much whining the pool man gives me over that little adventure....
'til we meet again, may the farmers market flowers bloom and the skies stay sunny all day long....
{All photos from here}
P.S. For those of you going to Farm Chicks, I will be the girl looking overwhelmed as I wander through the massive trove of treasures with my huge ticking stripe shoulder bag, and bangs pinned back with several bobby pins, please come and hug my neck if you see me, I would love to meet you!
Muwahhh!

I don't know why your hubby is complaining, it sounds like a great Saturday to me! I bet he secretly enjoys it :)
Have fun at Farm Chicks and I hope you find some great treasures!!

Awww, I would love to hug your neck, but I'm stuck here in God's country-I mean Texas- this weekend!
As soon as you get that picnic table all gussied up (there's a granny word for ya!) and set, I'll be the first one over!
Have a BLAST at Farm Chicks!

Anne

Farmers markets are always so fun! Sadly, the one in town is very small but still enjoyable. I'd love to try out your version a market shopping - sound so lovely!
Vintage tablecothes have been calling to me also latley. I picked one up at a sale yesterday. It's a beautiful red and white floral and I think it will be perfect for Fourth of July. Can't wait to use. I't sure to make me smile.
Have a great weekend!

Oh forgot to mention. Last year I picked up a bunch on dill (and some flowers) from the market. Plopped the bundle in the pitcher at home and it was a beautiful arrangement with a lovely scent. Can't wait to do it again this summer.

Sounds like my kinda weekend....can I cruise down there and we can leave our boys at home while we traipse all over SC?
Have fun at the beach....The beach is a natural exfoliant - our bodies (including the dog's) are so soft and smooth after. Well, after we clean all the sand out of our crevices that is!
Happy Friday! XOXO

Sounds perfect! It's good to know your life is a lot like mine - grand plans of lovely experiences cut short by the reality of an uncooperative significant other!
Have a beautiful weekend~

After this week I need an outing like just like that! Maybe I should create the perfect picnic outing in my backyard....
I told my daughter that i should wear a Farm Chicks T-shirt to her graduation {LOL} instead of wanting to sulk for a month i decided to throw her whole 8th grade class a pool party that night.... nothing like a good distraction!!
Have a wonderful weekend,

I LOVE farmers markets... We've got a small one in the village my parents live in and a bigger one in the city I live. Often I'll go there for lunch... It's just so heavenly peaceful in the middle of town...
Happy Weekend!

Have been a fan of your blog for a long time but don't think I have ever commented, I know, shame on me! I will be at Farm Chicks! I will look for you! Would love to meet you live and in person. I now live in Minnesota but used to be a Portland, Oregon girl and always meet my west coast friends at Farm Chicks for great shopping and catching up! It's a blast.
