Once a week or so I hit up a local thrift shoppe that is on my way home. About a month ago, and yes that is how long this poor little dresser has been sitting in my garage waiting for her makeover...I found this dresser sitting in front of the thrift shoppe with a $15.00 price tag.
She was beat up and one of her drawers didn't work too well and the bottom handles were broken off, but I saw some potential in her, and being that I love to keep good looking vintage items in their original state, i figure this little Q~T was so beat up I wouldn't feel bad painting her.
The pool man fixed her drawers upon many nagging requests from me.....
And, I didn't want to spend much money to fix her up so as I was digging through my paint closet I found the left over Turquoise paint I used on my shutters , and since this little sweetie is going in the same room I figured Turquoise was the color she needed to be.
And you should have heard the pool man when I told him I was painting her turquoise, silly boys they just don't get it, do they?
After many coats of primer and two coats of paint here she is in all her quirky glory!
I kept her top the natural wood, cause I am loving that look right now and re-stained her with "Gel Stain" which rocks...absolutely the best stain to use hands down!
I really want to add these handles from Anthropologie :
But at $18.00 a piece and needing 6 of them, I just couldn't swallow the cost...so she has four of her old handles and some crystal knobs on the bottom! I am not completely happy with how they look, but for a dresser that at the moment sits in a closet, I think it will do!
{don't mind the dead grass spot...}
And I am thinking she would be a perfect fit for a little girls room... & I am also thinking I showed the pool man who is the decorating boss around this nest!
Moral of this post {did you ever think I would get to that}...don't pass up a $15.00 dresser cause she bears some beat up drawers and missing handles...beauty comes in all shapes and sizes!
Cha Cha Cha!
P.S. Dear Anthropologie, please stop sending two e-mails to my inbox a day, it is very disturbing to my performance at work and if you insist on doing so, could I suggest sending along some "bogo" deals next time. Sincerely, Tara
P.S.S. This is my 400th post, goodness I talk a lot! I am planning on picking up some goodies for you girls when I go to Farm Chicks so look for a giveaway coming soon!!
xo!

I love, love, love it! Score on that price, too! I really like the handles the way they are, but what about taking some cream or white ribbon and making ribbon handles for the bottom....I don't know...maybe it would be too hard to open like that...anywho, love it and have a blast at FC! I wish I was going. Oh, and I haven't forgotten about your package...I promise, it's coming!
xoxo,
Adrienne

What a cutie patootie she turned out to be! I too am diggin on the wood top. Good choice girlie :)
Ooohh and the drawers - they resemble beadboard...drool. Lovin the curvy numbers on the drawers too! Did you free hand the numbers, or is it a stencil?
Take a bow and a curtsy girlfriend....tada!

drooling....
oh my! Blondie - you've out-done yourself! I love the numbers, the mismatch pulls - genius, Love.
& if you see my sister at Farm Chicks give her a hug for me - she'll be the one with two kids (boy and girl) she looks like Rachel McAdams (yeah, she's gorgeous) & her little boy is all cowboy. Mrs. Brown's the name.
She's a doll.
Hope you have a wonderful time there - totally wish that I can't go. :( Take lots of pics!
Hugs, The lady

ohh, you girls are so sweet, by golly. I think I need a Hoobie Lobbie by me though, I hear they have some great knobs and handles for cheap...!!
For those who asked, the Stain is "Gel Stain" from Lowes in "Oak". The numbers are rub on numbers I had in my drawer. And the paint was a custom color I had matched to a sign a while back!
thank you again for your sweet comments!!

Love the turquoise! Oh, and I'm sure the poolman appreciated the bit of stained wood. Right? I like to play up how I left that for Jason because I knew that it would make him happy to see the natural wood. ;)

Love the color and the price! Gotta love those thrift shops! What is Farm Chicks? The antique show in Washington? Sounds like fun! I have picked up some more items from Urban Barn...got to stay away from that place, it is getting addicting! I should be posting them sometime...well hopefully sometime soon...I have been lagging on the postings, but no one knows because no one looks, so I don't feel so bad. Your BFF Stephanie
