Afternoon Snicker Doodles...
{and, yes that would be you... I gave you a sweet little nickname today...
oh no no, you don't have to thank me! **wink wink**}
It all started a few weeks ago when I found this cute little Pink apron:
I had good intention of selling her...
I really did...
Pinky swear!
One lonely afternoon I loaded her into my Etsy Store:
Walked down stairs to wrangle open a beer, as it was happy hour after all...
Walked back upstairs...
And took her right straight out of my Etsy store.
Just like that, with no second thoughts...this Q~ T was mine!
For some reason I just couldn't part with my newly acquired Pink vintage Apron.
And from then on, my love of vintage aprons has abounded.
Big shocker here I know...
Say it with me:
O b s e s s i v e C o m p u l s i v e
Ahh, now I feel better we got that out in the air!
Let me be clear about something though...
I love VINTAGE aprons, not vintage *inspired* aprons.
There is a difference, even thought the vintage inspired aprons are just as cute...
They by no means have the history behind them...
The stains,
The worn end on the ties,
The ripped edge on the front pocket,
The sweet little wear marks from wiping your hands down the front of the apron continuously...
I love the idea that maybe way back in 1950 the vintage apron I hung on my plate rack was worn by a clever little lady who spent the day baking up a storm... for her children and dear hubby.
What I also love is the price.
Vintage aprons are an affordable collectible ranging from $2.00-$20.00 roughly....
They can be found at flea markets, estate sales & Etsy .
And some of them are cute enough to be added to your wardrobe:
Aprons are no longer restricted to the kitchen, which makes my heart happy because as most of you know I do not spend much time in there!
**cha cha cha**
So next time you are out thrifting, or flea marketing...
{Are those actually considered verbs?}
Keep your keen eye open for some cute vintage aprons, who knows maybe you will too start being a collector!
I hope you have a wonderful weekend girlies...
It is raining buckets here today and I am sure when I get home from work, my punk will be putting on his green rain boots and wanting to ride his motorcycle (which is really his bike, but we go with it) around the cul-de-sac, and...
How can I say no to that?
S w e e t B l e s s i n g s~
P.s. I have some vintage aprons in my Etsy Shoppe if you want to get a jump start on your collection!

I agree! I received a vintage apron for my bridal shower (you may have seen the picture) but its to delicate to actually wear in the kitchen. When can I wear it. Perhaps we'll grab a coffee sometime and dres up and look cute and be "that girl" together...and I'll wear my apron.

I have some and I love them! Especially since they've been worn by women doing something special for their families! Love that little pink number! Have you worn it all by itself yet ? ;)

for some reason in my mind, you and pink just GO together! (well, you and vintage go together, too...you and the punk, you and the pool man ... YOU go well with many things!)
I love that you kept it, it had YOU all over it!!
Happy weekend...and would you hate me if I said I was going to be sad that it isn't going to rain this weekend? I know my daughter isn't going to be sad...she's such an outdoors-y girl.
xoxo

I would have done the same thing! CUTE apron! It suits you.
I've got several aprons my grandmother made for my mom, so although not super-old vintage, they've still got character and history and I love them. I'm always drawn to vintage aprons - but I tell myself I've already got too many and I shouldn't spend the money. Not fun at all!

They jump out at me now when I go thrifting or antiquing - I love the ones with fringe and lace and little pockets.
You can use them for gardening and crafting too ~
Sarah - I've had a lot of fun going through your blog. Little boys are so fun aren't they? :)

Great post! I love that you kept the pink one for yourself. I bought a vintage apron in college and it turned out to be an apron the shop owner's wife used. He had a big story about it..it was adorable. I still use that apron more than most of my others. The history and the memories I've made in it make it very special. Love the inclusion of the Farm Chicks. They are so much fun!
Happy Weekend to you!!

I Agree, Vintage Aprons are Yummy! I actually have my Hubby's Grandmothers apron she wore all the time. My MIL gave it to Emily and now it's mine cuz she is a teen and wouldn't have anything to do with it if you paid her. I was laughing when you wrote, you walked down to get a beer came back up and removed the listing from your shop. I swear I've done the very same thing, once only once a bracelet and Im glad I did cuz I love it..Rain is heading out for a few days of drying up. Isn't it going to be a Beautiful Spring? With all this rain, it has to be!! If I hear about a Drought this Summer I may just have to Scream! xo Jamie

Though not strictly vintage, Anthropologie has a great selection of vintage-looking aprons. I just love them hanging on pegs along a kitchen wall, or around a window instead of curtains.

Adorable!! I have a number of vintage aprons too, as I used to be a wee bit obsessed with them as well...it's subsided a bit (there's always some new obsession sneaking up on me), but I still think they are soooo pretty and a wonderful thing to collect!!
Have a great weekend Tara ~

I just love aprons, especially old feed sack ones! I probably have 15 or so in my collection, but then I've been collecting a lot longer than you have! Love that pink one, too!
PS - thanks for the sweet words of encouragement! B.

Ahhh, I love vintage aprons. I always have my eye out for them. My collection is small and I've been trying to figure out where to display them in the kitchen. I need some hooks. Glad you found a special one to keep. I'm going to try and resist looking at your etsy shop. Notice I said try.
Have a great weekend!

I love aprons too! I have a few vintage inspired, but I also have one actual vintage that is so small around the waist that Annie can't even wear it! There is something to be said about girdles ;)

Gosh, I don't blame you! That's one cute apron! I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who changes her mind about selling something. Did it just today, in fact. I feel better about it now. ;-)

Love it. I have a vintage apron collection too. Now I just need to find an awesome vintage peg rack to hang them on in my kitchen.
P.S. more than a few things haven't made it into my shop (tee hee)

Oh, that is SO cute! If you find another that you can part with, you've got to let me know. My dearest friend is all about pink and would LOVE one like that.
I personally keep drifting to the red one in your shop... I'll have to pop over and see if she's already been taken. That's what happens when I wait... sigh...
Have a great weekend!

I have heard about all that California rain and have caught a pic or two on the news.
Hope you aren't experiencing anything dangerous because of the rain.

I just pulled out a bunch of aprons I forgot I had. I was going to sell a couple when I had my online shop. Two are really cute and do not match my house in the least. Pop me your address and I will send them to you~
